The children in Year 4 have been receiving drumming lessons over the last half term as part of our topic on Ghana.
A group of year 4 children were asked to attend an event at the Civic Hall Leeds. It was attended by the Lord and Lady Mayor of Leeds, Hillary Ben MP and trade organisations in support of Fair Trade.
Children from many schools in Leeds were represented to learn more about the Fair Trade organisation.
As a school we have attended this event in the past but this year instead of just taking part in some of the activities and workshops our school was asked to prepare and run one. The children in Year 4 look at the Fair Trade model as part of the study unit on Ghana. The children who attended the event will have the opportunity to deliver their workshop again to their class this term.
Our students were given a certificate for their had work by the Lord Mayor of Leeds. They were excellent ambassadors for our school.
Well done Year 4.

Class 10 have been very busy in the last couple of weeks making 3D shapes on No Pens Wednesday.
We have also started making our ancient Greek pots.
This week we really enjoyed our No Pens Day. On Wednesday we had two exciting visitors. We re-told stories and tried out some different musical instruments. For Maths we made some different 3D shapes from nets. We were able to identify the shapes and talk about their properties. We also tested out using the clay as a practise for our Ancient Greek pottery. We practised 2 different methods for making the correct shape and some of us even decorated our practise pots with patterns.
These are just some of the fantastic geometric patterns painted onto an orange background inspired by the designs on ancient Greek pots.
Class 10 have had an eventful week with an ancient Greek workshop on Monday followed by a workshop with the Northern Ballet.
The children in Class 10 began their work on Ancient Greece this week with a topic launch where the children made initial investigations about various aspects of Ancient Greek life.
