This week, we have been reading a new story called 'The Lighthouse Keeper's lunch' and we have really enjoyed it. We summarised the story by acting out the main parts in groups and then performed them for the rest of the class.

Year 2 had a great time at The Deep learning about different creatures under the sea. We couldn't believe that molluscs live inside shells and that there's a type of bird that lives on the sand. Our favourite creature was Eddie the potato grouper because he looked so grumpy!
Class 6 had a brilliant time in Ledston! We enjoyed learning about the environment and different types of trees and animals. Our favourite part was going to the woods and making our own dens.
Class 6 enjoyed carrying out their own investigations in science. We decided on different things we would like to freeze and then observe. We were really surprised to find out that the oil and paint turned solid!
We had a fantastic book day and everyone looked brilliant in their costumes.
Year 2 have had a fantastic half term and we have been so impressed with how hard they have worked. This week, we carried out some of our own space research and we are really proud of our outcomes. We also finished our brilliant space art. We have really enjoyed learning about space and what the different planets are like.
Class 6 have had a great start to the half term! We were lucky enough to have Matthew Bellwood in on Tuesday to do some drama with us. We acted out the story 'Awungelama' which is a traditional African story.
Year 2 have had a very busy week this week. We had a great time on 'No Pens Day' and it was great to see some of you there. We really enjoyed our African storytelling from Matthew Bellwood and getting to learn and hold lots of different cold blooded creatures.
This week we have worked hard in maths to understand the value of each digit in a two digit number and are learning our two times tables. We have also started to think about what South Africa is like and Mr Jackson came in to talk to Year 2 about his trip to South Africa last year. We were really interested in life there and have lots more questions to ask him and Mrs Shaw!
