These letters are written by children in Class 13 who researched the origins of Halloween traditions following a request from Mayo College.

Y5 have also composed a class letter about Bonfire Night to explain another Autumn tradition. The children from the craft club drew pictures of the fireworks to share their experiences.

We are hoping to hear about Diwali celebrations from the children at Mayo College.

Year 5 Invite to Mayo College

Year 5 made a video to invite the students of Mayo College to Beechwood in June 2023

June 2022

At this time of year, we have normally shared two weeks of learning with students from Mayo College, India. Mayo is a partner school, and we are lucky that they can visit us under normal circumstances. The limits on travel due to Covid have postponed this over the last couple of years.

Y5 are the lead year group for the visit. Despite not being able to meet the students in person Y5 have found other ways to maintain links with Mayo College. One of these was the writing and sending of emails to form pen pals with the students. The boys from Mayo wrote back even though it was during their school holiday.
With the permission of Mayo College, we would like to share their letters with you.
