Year 2 Sports Hall Athletics Competition

On Wednesday 11th January, a group of year 2 pupils went to Farsley Celtic FC to compete. They took part in a range of activities such as relays, speed bounce and throwing.

The children really enjoyed the event and showed lots of great skills during the day. We were really proud of their efforts.

The competition consisted of various track events including sprint relays, hurdles, obstacle races and longer distance runs. We also competed in many field events including the javelin, speed-bounce, long jump, triple jump and vertical jump. The children performed to a very high standard and represented our school in an excellent manner.

The next day we received our results and found out that we had successfully qualified for the semi-finals! We are very proud of their achievements and the children are very excited for the next stage on Thursday the 3rd of December.

Friday 9th October.

Last week children from Year 4, 5 and 6 entered a competition to go to watch a rugby match at Headingley Stadium. A selection of children from Year 4, 5 and 6 were chosen and went to watch the match between Yorkshire Carnegie and Doncaster.

Children enjoyed supporting the team who were playing against Doncaster. Within the first 10 minutes Doncaster was in the lead, however with a lots of Beechwood support by the end of the first half Yorkshire Carnegie were winning.

At half time, we got to go onto the pitch and parade around the pitch with our banner. We waved at all of the fans in the stadium, it was a great atmosphere!

We returned to our seats ready for the second half of the match. We continued to cheer and support our team and helped lead them to victory!

Children were a credit to the school and really enjoyed the event.
