Star of the Week - Oliver - role model behaviour and always following the Golden Rules
Writer of the Week -Jack - excellent effort on his report about Ancient Greece
Reader of the Week - Emmanuel - great effort in his guided reading tasks, especially the assessment
It has been another busy week for C9! We have now completed our draft reports on Ancient Greece. It involved a lot of writing, but the finished reports are really interesting and show just how much the children have learned.
In our outdoor PE sessions, we focused on agility, dodging and accelerating, as well as trying to outwit a partner. In science, we consolidated our understanding of how to make a closed circuit, this time using buzzers and motors. We certainly have some budding electricians among us, with children successfully exploring what happens when they add different components to their circuits!
Finally, in drumming, we focused on listening carefully for the pulse within a rhythm.

Writer of the Week: Cael - for an excellent paragraph about homes in Ancient Greece
Mathematician of the Week: Cooper - showing resilience and confidence when comparing 4-digit numbers
Star of the Week - Marley - consistently working hard all week and producing an excellent home-learning piece about Ancient Greece
We loved our workshop with Catherine, who gave us fascinating insights into life in Ancient Greece and gave us the opportunity to handle original artefacts. This experience helped us to develop our ideas and draft our report on Ancient Greece in English.
In Science, we investigated how electrical circuits work and were incredibly proud when we successfully worked out how to light a bulb. And, of course, we loved Francophone Day! As a year group, we proudly represented Côte d’Ivoire while learning much more about other French-speaking countries through competitive games, research and teamwork.

Star of the Week: Noah -for following the Golden Rules all week
Hand Writer of the Week: Racheiya -for concentrating hard on our new handwriting workouts
Mathematician of the week: Jack -for working hard on thousand numbers
In English, C9 started their unit on report writing, using journalistic skills to read information and identify suitable headings and sub-headings for different sections. They have challenged themselves in maths to understand and represent thousands as well as doing plenty of times tables practice!
Other highlights include: Headteacher Story Time where they sang climate songs and read about the science of the brain; doing a daily body workout to improve handwriting skills, and of course, meeting together in our Beechwood Houses for the first time, reciting our chants with real enthusiasm.
School diaries will be given out on Monday. These are packed full of really helpful information from key dates, school values, curriculum learning mats, school songs and much more. You will also find their individual Spelling Shed and Purple Mash/TTRS login details here. Please start to look at these online platforms with your child this week- they are really fun way to practise spelling skills and build fluency in times tables.

Certificates:
Star of the Week: Zohra/Eli/Lucas/River/Gracie for following the new Golden Rules consistently.
We have had a lovely first few days back at school and the children have made a really positive start to Year 4. Attendance and punctuality have been excellent – thank you!
Everyone has also looked fantastic in our new active wear uniform, which has helped make the start of term feel especially fresh and exciting.
The children have done brilliantly learning our new classroom routines and rules, and it has been wonderful to see how quickly they are settling in. There has also been lots of excitement about the new Beechwood Houses and finding out which house everyone belongs to.
Alongside getting to know one another, we have enjoyed playing maths games, sharing and exploring some of our new reading books, and thinking about how different feelings can show themselves in our bodies.
A highlight for many children was our first Golden Time of the year – a lovely way to finish a very successful first few days!
Well done, Class 9 – a fantastic start!
