Class 8

Week Ending 06/03/2026 - Well done to our certificate winners.

Class 8 absolutely loved visiting nursery to share books and stories on World Book Day.

Year 3 learned more about climate change on Wednesday as we took part in different activities on Climate Joy Day.

Because we are thinking  a lot about how we can make a difference in our community, we explored the school grounds and began to plan what we could do to encourage more wildlife. Everyone would like more flowers, a wild flower area and homes and feeding stations for different creatures.

We also researched different women who have all been an important part of protecting the natural world and made our own posters or booklets to show what we had learned. Jane Goodall, Greta Thunberg and Sylvia Earle all did what they were passionate about and believed everyone can make a difference.

We really enjoyed walking around parts of Seacroft to find out more about what Seacroft was like in the past. Did you know that Seacroft used to be a village with farms, a blacksmith, a quarry and some mills? A lot of the land was owned by the Wilson family and they lived in Seacroft Hall. This was pulled down and farming ended so that more houses, schools and shops could be built in the area.

Well done to all our attendance certificate winners.

In Year 3, we are very impressed with the home learning some children have been doing to help them find out more about climate change.

Week Ending 06/02/2026

Year 3 really enjoyed visiting the Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility this week and we learned so much about what happens to our rubbish and how to recycle effectively. Everyone made a pledge about what they would do now to help our environment.

On Friday morning we were able to share the climate work we are doing in school with some very important visitors. Councillor John Tudor and Richard Burgon MP joined our whole school assembly and then met different groups of children to learn more about what we believe is important at Beechwood. The children discussed our curriculum brilliantly, listened carefully and asked very thoughtful questions. We learned that Richard Burgon already does a lot of work promoting climate education and we hope he will tell people about what we do at Beechwood. John Tudor inspired us with his own story about how he began picking up litter locally to make a difference in his own area. After this visit, we have lots of ideas about what we will do next in school.

Week Ending 30/01/2026

Some of Class 8 represented our class brilliantly Friday morning when MP Richard Burgon and Cllr John Tudor visited school to learn about our climate curriculum and why we think helping the environment is so important. Here are some of the posters they made at home and a poem written by Layla.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

Words that we all know

We might be only children

But we'll try you see.

We recycle what we use.

We separate things and you should too.

Glass and paper, plastic and tin,

Go in your recycle bin.

We must start now, We can't wait,

Quick!

Soon it will be too late

We can save this planet

It starts with you and me.

This week as part of our Community topic, we worked with Shine and thought about the buildings around us. We are going to find out more about them as part of our research this term.

Week Ending 23/01/2026 Well done to all our certificate winners.

Week Ending 16/01/2026

This week we have started our new community topic by thinking about what we know already about the world and then considering what else we would like to find out.

Week Ending 09/01/2026 - Well done to everyone in Class 8 who got certificates this week.

We hope you enjoy looking at our fantastic art work. We made our own final pieces using ideas from the Anglo-Saxon myth Beowulf.

Merry Christmas from Year 3

Class 8 really enjoyed our climate scavenger hunt around school.

As part of our climate day, we thought about the different types of habitats and biomes in the world and learned about the animals and weather there. We enjoyed being creative to show what we had learned.

Week Ending 24/10/2025

Well done to everyone who got an attendance certificate this half term.

Year 3 really enjoyed performing their assembly this week and they did brilliantly. Everyone learned about Rosa Parks and her role in making changes in America. Here are some of the posters we made to show what we had learned.

Year 3 learned a lot about the Romans from a history expert.

Year 3 enjoyed doing art outside as we learned about Stone Age cave paintings.

Seacroft Grange Care Home

15 children from Year 3 were lucky enough to visit Seacroft Grange Care Home this afternoon to do Halloween Activities. We really enjoyed meeting different residents and over this year we are looking forward to keeping a link going and finding out more about them.

Week Ending 19/09/2025

Year 3 were very excited to spend the day with a history expert learning about life in prehistoric Britain. We explored reconstructed sources and learned about what life was like from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.

Well done to everyone who has already got a certificate in Class 8. 🙂

Week Ending 12/09/25

This week in Year 3 we have launched our new topic which is all about different 'Invaders and Settlers.' We explored different types of sources to help us think about what we are interested in and what we would like to find out more about. The areas we were most interested in were food, buildings, travel, children, art, weapons and clothes.
