Last week at Beechwood Primary School ...
Another very busy week at Beechwood. All of the children in school enjoyed going to assembly this week to find out about Miss Ebertz time in India a few weeks ago. Children enjoyed looking at the photographs to show all of the things that she did during her time in India.
Around school there have been lots of great activities. In nursery the children enjoyed creating an ice castle, they then used role play to use this castle. Reception enjoyed learning all about France. In Year 2 children learnt how to sew, although they found this difficult they kept going.

Year 6 had a great time on their residential in Paris last week. They were busy exploring Paris every day and found out lots of new and interesting information that they will use in their topic work. Please read Miss Ebertz blog to find out what the children did each day during their time in France. Photographs will be added to the Year 6 class pages soon. In school, all children enjoyed dressing up to raise money for Children in Need. In school on Friday there were people dressed in pyjamas, onsies and as superheroes or clowns. Thank you to everyone who donated buns for the bun sale and also to those that purchased them! We raised lots of money for Children in Need! There are photographs on each class page taken during Children in Need dressing up day.

In assembly on Tuesday children learnt about what we remember on the 5th November. Year 3 enjoyed their carousel of activities on Wednesday afternoon relating to Bonfire Night. Children in Year 3 made firework pictures, tasted parkin and dipped apples into chocolate and decorated them. Year 4 really enjoyed their Skulls and Bones workshop with staff from the Leeds Discovery Centre. Year 6 are very excited about their residential in France this week. Please read Miss Ebertz blog on a daily basis to find out what Year 6 are doing during the week. They will also upload photographs of the residential when they are back in school next week.

I hope that everyone had a good half term and enjoyed a nice break before the start of a busy half term in school. Mrs Dunning gave birth to a baby boy in the holidays, both Mum and baby are well. We look forward to seeing them both soon.
It was great to see so many parents in school before the holiday for our Black History Month assemblies. Children were all really interested in this work and I am sure that children have been able to tell you more about the work that they have been doing about this. Thank you to everyone for showing your support with these assemblies. I am sure that lots of you will be going to bonfires on Wednesday, we will be finding out about what we are remembering on the 5th November in assemblies this week.
