    Sun 16 Jun 2019 A Haylings

On Thursday 13th June, 10 Year 6 children and their teacher Mrs Haylings took part in the West Yorkshire leg of the Schools Tour of Yorkshire.  The tour started in York  on Monday 10th June 2019 and will finish in Doncaster on 2nd July 2019.  The baton will travelled from Beechwood Primary, making its way through the city centre making use of the City Connect segregated route and the city’s Core Network. Riders from Beechwood passed the baton to  the children at Richmond Hill Primary School.  They were greeted by a fantastic Samba band and the Richmond Hill school orchestra.

We are so proud of the children and their huge achievement.  They all represented the school magnificently.

  • Fair Trade

    Mon 11 Mar 2019 S. Shaw

A group of year 4 children were asked to attend an event at the Civic Hall Leeds. It was attended by the Lord and Lady Mayor of Leeds, Hillary Ben MP and trade organisations in support of Fair Trade.

Children from many schools in Leeds were represented to learn more about the Fair Trade organisation.

As a school we have attended this event in the past but this year instead of just taking part in some of the activities and workshops our school was asked to prepare and run one. The children in Year 4 look at the Fair Trade model as part of the study unit on Ghana. The children who attended the event will have the opportunity to deliver their workshop again to their class this term.

Our students were given a certificate for their had work by the Lord Mayor of Leeds. They were excellent ambassadors for our school.

    Well done Year 4.

  • DWF Foundation

Thu 24 Jan 2019 Louise Siriwetchaphan
Beechwood Primary School would like to thank the DWF Foundation (Leeds local office) for supporting our school with  Christmas present donations. They donated lots of wonderful toys for our pupils, their generosity is much appreciated by our pupils, parents and staff.
In September they took part in a volunteer day to improve our school environment.  We now have beautifully painted flower boxes at the front of the school, a newly painted nursery playhouse, an improved amphitheatre for performances outside and a laurel hedge along the school’s border with Brooklands Avenue.  Not only does the school look so much better but the volunteers said they thoroughly enjoyed working with our school!
The DWF Foundation is determined to make a positive difference to the local community and we are delighted that they are working with our school.  Their actions and behaviours demonstrate their values as a company and they have embarked on a journey to develop a culture of contribution.
