8th July

Year 2 had a fantastic trip to the seaside on Thursday we build lots of sandcastles and had a great time paddling in the sea!

Story Teller

This week our class enjoyed a storytelling and drama session. They explored different emotions using the book Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival.

17th June

The children have created some fantastic shell artwork in the style of Georgia O'Keefe. Take a look at their brilliant creations!

10th June

We enjoyed taking part in a Punch and Judy puppet workshop with Matthew Bellwood this week. We wanted to find out more about what people used to do for fun at the seaside in the past. We enjoyed watching the show, acting the story out in costumes and making puppets 

This week's certificate winners were Joshua, Nadia, Evie McKai and Amelia K for working really hard all last half term. Lots of children also received a certificate for reading at least 3 times a week last half term. Well done!

27th May

This week all the children in our class received a certificate for trying their best in their SATs tests. We are really proud of you all.

The children really enjoyed the Jubilee activities this week and baked some delicious cakes for the school bake off.

13th May

This week Y2 went on a trip to The Deep in Hull to learn about sea creatures and their habitats. We had a brilliant time and we enjoyed learning lots of new things.

29th April

Evie and Faria have been busy with their home learning creating some seaside-inspired art. They are fantastic!
 

22nd April

We started our new topic 'Seasides' this week. The children enjoyed the launch lesson where they started to look at different information books, maps, photographs and artefacts from the past to help us decide on some important questions we want to answer this term. 

Well done to everyone in class 5 this term who received their 100% attendance certificate!

25th March

Evie and Faria both entered the poster competition for this year's science week. The theme was 'Growth'. They produced some amazing work! 

The children really enjoyed working in groups this week to design and build their own shelters in DT. 

18th March

Class 5 had a brilliant time during our trip to Ledston Woods. We enjoyed working in groups to build our own dens. 

11th March

This week's certificate winners are Faria, Coby, Lyla and Kamani. Well done!

18th February

This week children received certificates for reading 3 or more times a week this half term. Nova got the science certificate for showing some great understanding. Well done!

Toby, Nova and Robbie have been working on some fantastic home learning projects.

11th February

This week we have been creating space art inspired by Ron Miller. We are very proud of our final pieces. 

We enjoyed taking part in ‘Dress to Express’ on Friday as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.

4th February

This week we had an exciting visit from the Stardome in school. We learnt all about the Solar System. 

Lots of children have also been busy completing home learning tasks at home! Well done.

Home Learning 

Lots of children have been working hard at home to research and make things linked to our topic this term 'Explorers'. Keep up the good work! We can't wait to see what else you do this term.

21st January

This week Matthew Bellwood came in to school and we took part in an Explorers workshop as part of our topic this term. We got into character and learnt what it would be like to be an explorer in the jungle. We had lots of fun!

14th January

Year 2 have been working hard to practise their Christmas performance this week. We can't wait for you to see it next week!

This week we have worked really hard to make our animal puppets in DT. Have a look at our finished work. 

26th  November

We had a great day on Wednesday for No Pens Day. D-Side came in to teach us about keeping safe online and Matthew Bellwood did some storytelling with us. We also worked in pairs to solve some 2D shape problems in maths.

5th November

This week, Matthew Bellwood came into school to tell us a traditional African tale called 'Awungelama'. We really enjoyed learning the story and acting it out. We will be retelling the story in our own words in English. 

22nd October

This week 18 children in class 5 received a reading certificate for reading at least three times a week at home! Well done everyone. Nova and Brody were our PE stars this half term for their effort and work during our gymnastics lessons. 

15th October

This week's certificate winners were Cayla, Jaxon, Nellie and Robbie. Well done!

This week, year 2 had a fantastic trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park to learn more about animals that live in Africa as part of our topic work. We really enjoyed getting to see the pride of lions, zebras, giraffes and the leopard! In the afternoon, we took part in a workshop called Furs, Feathers and Scales. We found out more about the different types of animals we have been learning about in science as well as getting the chance to see and touch different reptiles and insects.

This week we have started to learn about our new topic 'South Africa'. In our launch lesson, we looked at lots of different information books, objects from South Africa and photographs to help us decide what we would like to find out about this term.
