We have been looking at a range of portraits by different artists in different styles and have been doing skills such as exploring sketching pencils and different sorts of paint brushes, sketching facial features and colour mixing, ready for drawing and painting our own portraits next week.

In Class 3 we have continued our work on toys as part of our topic, Who Am I? .  We have found out about toys in Victorian times and looked at how they are different to the toys we play with today. We were historians, looking for clues to find out whether toys were old and new and explaining why. We learned to play the sort of playground games children played in Victorian times and we set up a 'Time Travellers' Toyshop' role-play area. We have also been learning all about Mae Jemison for our Black History Month focus.

We have had a very busy week in Class 3. In English we have been reading The Train Ride by June Crebbin and we acted out the story. In Design and Technology we have been learning the skills we need to make moving pictures. We have been making pictures with pivots and sliders.  In Science we have been on an Autumn walk, looking for signs of Autumn but also signs of which animals share our space. We found fox holes, spider webs, birds nests and we found leaves, pine cones and apples that had been nibbled by creatures. We spotted a butterfly, woodlice , spiders, beetles, birds and also looked in the hedgehog home that has been built in the community garden.
