Herd Farm 2026

Day 2

We have had another fantastic and action-packed day at Herd Farm! For some, the day began very early, and after breakfast we headed straight into our first activities.

The children split into three groups and took part in a range of exciting challenges throughout the morning. Activities included archery and the assault course, the leap of faith and climbing wall, and the ever-popular zip wire. Once again, the children impressed us all with their determination and resilience, with many overcoming their nerves and stepping well outside their comfort zones to achieve things they never thought possible.

After another delicious lunch of jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings, followed by chocolate chip cookies, we returned to our groups to continue with activities we had not yet completed. The weather was mostly kind to us, although we did have a couple of showers during the day — but that certainly did not stop the fun!

Tea this evening was chicken and chips with sweetcorn. It was also a very special day for Kara, so we finished the meal by singing “Happy Birthday” and enjoying some birthday cake together.

This evening, the children entertained us with a wonderful talent show, followed by a quiz organised by Mrs Baldwin and the staff team.

We are all looking forward to a slightly earlier night tonight before completing our final set of activities tomorrow.

Day 1

We had a fantastic first evening at Herd Farm. After a bit of an adventure getting here, we arrived just before tea. We enjoyed a delicious meal of lasagne, pasta and wedges with salad and garlic bread, followed by yummy brownies for dessert. After tea, Matt—one of the instructors at Herd Farm—took us on a night walk. We enjoyed a 5 kilometre walk towards the Harewood estate and we saw where they film Emmerdale. In the wood, we listened to the birdsong and enjoyed the sounds of nature. We then made our way back to Herd Farm to get ready for bed.

We are looking forward to more adventures tomorrow when start the activities on the site.
