Class 10

Year 4 enjoyed taking part in different activities as part of our VE Day 80 celebrations.

Week ending 09/05/2025 - Well done to our certificate winners

In Year 4 we launched our Lake District topic and devised a list of questions that we would like to research.

Lake District Residential - Day 1

We have had a brilliant day around the Lake District today. At lunchtime, we visited Windermere and had a go at skimming stones for one of our golden opportunities. Then, we moved on to Hawkshead where we spent the afternoon bug hunting, drawing and learning to use a compass in the grounds of the youth hostel. After dinner, we played outside or painted by the stream. To finish the day, we had fun singing together while Mr White played the guitar.

Spring Climate Knowledge Mat

Fantastic attendance this term Class 10. Well done to everyone who got a certificate.

We really enjoyed sharing stories with Year 1 on World Book Day.

Well done to our certificate winners.

As part of our Ghana topic, Sarah from the DEC came to school to teach us about Fairtrade and cocoa farming in Ghana. We found out how cocoa beans grow in pods from the trunks of cacao trees that are planted and cared for by farmers in the forests of Ghana. Twice are year, the ripe pods are cut down so that the cacao beans inside can be removed, dried out, weighed and taken across the sea to different factories to be manufactured into chocolate products. To be paid a fair price and treated fairly, the farmers need to be part of the Fairtrade organisation.

Year 4 really enjoyed learning about sound practically from our visiting scientist Sam. He showed us different experiments to help us understand how the volume, and pitch change depending on different factors. We learned sound does not just travel through air and we explored how we hear because sound waves enter our ear.

Year 4 enjoyed finding out about different European countries to celebrate European languages day. We listened to different languages being spoken and had great fun playing bingo with how to greet each other in different languages. Our art work shows the Greek temple the Parthenon.

20th September

In science this week, Year 4 have enjoyed investigating how to make a circuit. They learned to connect wires to a cell and a bulb to make the light work. When they added a switch, they could make the light turn on and off.

9th September

In Year 4 this week we talked about the history we learned last year and then we launched our Ancient Greece topic. To help us think about what we would like to find out about in this topic, we explored different resources in groups. We watched videos on BBC Bitesize to find out what life was like in Ancient Greece, looked at reconstructed pottery, made notes using the non-fiction books we had and tried on dressing up clothes. After that we talked together about the key questions we want to research and answer this term.

Well done to everyone who has already had a certificate in Class 10.
