EYFS
In Reception, we went on an exciting minibeast hunt! We explored different areas around our school grounds and were amazed at how many tiny creatures we could find. We spotted worms wriggling in the soil, spiders spinning their webs, and ladybirds resting on the leaves.
As part of our adventure, we also spent a quiet moment on the school field. We had a one-minute silence to use our five senses and really connect with nature. We listened carefully to the sounds around us, looked closely at what we could see, and thought about what we could feel and smell in the natural world.
Back in class, we learned more about minibeasts and the habitats they live in. We talked about where they like to hide, what they need to survive, and why it’s so important to protect these tiny creatures and the places they call home. The children loved discovering more about the world of minibeasts and showed great curiosity and care for nature.

Nursery had a wonderful time celebrating Earth Day! We talked about how we can help to look after our planet and thought about what makes a garden special. The children created their own garden pictures, using a range of materials to show what their perfect garden would look like.
We also enjoyed exploring our own nursery garden, taking time to notice all the amazing things we could see. The children spotted lots of different things. It was a fantastic way to help the children connect with nature and understand the importance of caring for our environment.

Climate Curriculum – Summer Term – Home Learning
Nursery had a lovely climate day last week. We have been looking for signs of new life and spotted ladybirds and bees in the nursery garden. Some nursery children went into the magic garden to weed the planters. While doing this we found a very large carrot and a worm. We are very excited to plant the flower and vegetable seeds. Nursery are appreciating the awe and wonder in nature and are fascinated with our natural world
Reception celebrated Climate Joy Day, learning about the weather and nature. We learnt about how trees are very important for living things on Earth and made our own bird feeders to add to our trees outside.
