Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
At Beechwood Primary School, we believe that safeguarding is a shared responsibility, ensuring that every child receives the care, protection, and support they need to thrive. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, shaping a school culture that prioritises the well-being of our pupils. Its importance goes beyond physical safety—it supports academic, social, and emotional development, allowing children to grow with confidence.
All staff and governors at Beechwood Primary School receive regular training on how to safeguard all pupils using the guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education.
It is important that the children feel safe at school and the children are encouraged to speak to a member of staff that they feel comfortable with if they have any concerns. Through our curriculum we teach the children how to recognise abuse, what a healthy relationship is, how to stay safe on and offline, road safety and how to use their voices to speak out. We ask for their opinions on how and why they feel safe in school using surveys and the school council.
At times, we may need to share information, get advice or work in partnership with other agencies to best support our pupils and ensure their safety. In all cases we want to work closely with parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes.
There may be times when you need extra help and support, please do contact us at these times, there are plenty of ways we can support you.
If you see or hear something that concerns you, please do not hesitate to speak with our Designated Safeguarding Lead or a member of our safeguarding team.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, you should call the police on 999 without delay. In addition, you can contact Children’s Social Care at 0113 222 4403 for further support. If the concern involves an adult, please reach out to Adult Social Care on 0113 222 4401.
Prompt action can make a critical difference. Keeping our children and community safe is a responsibility we all share.
